Background information

JP and Courtney reached out for a custom design for their wedding. The design would be printed onto bandanas to be waved in the air to send them off as they leave their wedding reception. The bandanas are also meant to be kept as a party favors.

It was vital that the design feel personal to the wedding while also being cool enough to be used well after the wedding. It was also necessary that the design feel both like a traditional bandana design while also using symbols to communicate their personalities and love for one another.

They chose me because they love my “signature style” and wanted it to be part of their wedding!

It is always an incredible honor for me to be asked to create beautiful work for such beautiful occasions as weddings and for such beautiful hearted persons. This kind of work brings my heart joy!

I treated this wedding piece like I do all wedding pieces: as a work of art, using symbols to communicate the deep love and lively personalities the couples share. They gave me full permission to upload the art before their wedding day (will appear on my social media on the day of their wedding).

Symbolism and Style breakdown

Lilies and staff - Signals their devotion to Saint Joseph.
Seven swords - Symbols of the Mary’s Seven Wounds.
Stars - Symbolize the presence of the
Texas and Florida - Courtney is from Texas, JP is from Florida.
Cacti - They really wanted cacti in their work (one of my calling card symbols.
Reunion Tower and Statue of Liberty - The tower is where they met (Dallas) and the Statue of Liberty is where they will be living as a newly wed couple (New York City).
Sun - The warmth of love.
Tear drops - The drops of joy that are shed in a loving relationship.
Tiny persons - The hopeful expectation of a fruitful marriage: children and life renewed.

Handmade feeling gives it a sense of youthfulness, charm, and energy.
